Bright Light and Weight Loss

A recently published study explored the impact of bright light on weight loss. The study, summarized here, nature.com, divided a group of overweight individuals involved in a weight loss program into two groups. Both groups followed the same diet and moderate exercise routine with one exception; members of one group exercised under bright light conditions while the others exercised in typical lighting. Although this was a very brief duration study, six weeks, both groups lost weight and reduced body fat. The interesting result of the study was the finding that the bright light group achieved a significantly greater body fat reduction. Further study is needed and underway to use a larger group and longer duration study.
